Helical gears / Helix gears
The teeth on helical gears are cut at an angle to the face of the gear. 
They run smoother and more quietly. They have higher load capacity,  The efficiency is also reduced because of longer surface contact. The gearing is quieter with less vibration. 

Worm Gear
There are a few reasons why one would choose a worm gear over a standard gear.
The first one is the high reduction ratio. A worm gear can have a massive reduction ratio with little effort -
A second reason to use a worm gear is the inability to reverse the direction of power. 
​ On a standard gear, the input and output can be turned independently once enough force is applied. This necessitates adding a backstop to a standard gearbox, further increasing the complication of the gear set.
